The Last Lecture



-launched two sites to sell garbage trucks
-got called into panama
-other business was slowing down
-guy ordered 15 trucks
-flew to new york, to sell the trucks
-had to go to washington D.C.
-flew to miami to fill in orders
-his clients flew him to panama to meet him
-his clients are very wealthy men that each own 20+ compnaies worth over a million dollars
-the business is growing exponentially
-website was very inexpensive
-he found all the product (garbage trucks)
-they are turning the website into a bilingual one
-most of the orders are coming from developing countries
-they have different classes
-fuel is a lot worse quality than in north america

-relatives gave up on him
-found a new best freind that helped him out a lot
-started a chocolate business called hershey
-sold the caramel business
-was very generous
-he married a catholic woman

-health was the new thing in America
-starting this business turned him against his brother
-americans thought that fat was good along with smoking and drinking
-created cornflakes and many other cereals
-didn't want to work as a doctor
-you would either love him or hate him
-he thought meat was in hatred for meat
-kelloggs was the first to figure out that what you ate played a role on your body's health
-excersise was a big deal for kellogg's also
-masturbation = the silent killer of the night

Undercover boss/ ABM



- abm started with one person, a bucket, a squeege, and $4.50
-goes undercover for his business to see what other people think of the company
-was very hurt about the 9/11 attack
-wants his employees to satay in his company as long as possible
-he works the normal everyday job everyone else does
-gets in crap for cussing and not doing the job quick enough
-didnt get through the training for his own company
-helped clean windows
-help with janitorial work
-learned about the employees devastations of 9/11
-went as a freight operator for a day and found out the real details in that particular job
-found out that his employees love to work for ABM which is very good in his case
-learned the stories of real 9/11 stories

-really liked fashion design

-didn't have an overall focus when she was 19
-took a hair design course
-if you don't like something you can always find something else to do
-worked at a hair salon
-made no money left the job after 3 weeks
-got another job at great clips
-quit her job in two weeks
-went back to where she had gone to school and talked to her instructor
-instructer got her an interveiw at a good salon
-stayed there for a year because she wanted to do her own work and not just be an assistant
-works at utopia academy
-hard work pays off even if you dont ask for anything
-didnt leave assistant job until she had another job at simple scissors
-was the master stylist at green apple salon in the cottonwood mall
-knew she wanted to be an instructor so she went to utopia academy
-has been there for 7 1/2 years
-moved up in positions from a normal instructor to the dean of the academy
-works for redken also and proceeds go to charity
-the client pays you to advertise your work
