-They started a company called handy dan
-this business was very successful
-had a plan that would make every hardware store obsoelite
-They were noth fired from hand dan and wanted to start a business
-got an investment for $2 million for 70% of the company
-took a long time to find out a name for the company
-they located the first buileding in Atlanta
-they tried to advertise all of Atlanta but the paper never put the ad in
-they started opening up more stores
-paid higher wages than the rest of the market
-lost almost a million dollars int the first year
- profitted almost a million dollars in the second year
-opened four more stores in florida
-Home Depot killed off a whole bunch of competitors
-had 31 stores in 1981
-got a new spoke person and made a lot more money
-sales topped to $1 billion

-had 500 stores in 1976
-more americans owned their own homes so they started doing their own projects
-lowes became home depot's first competitor
-home depot ran into safety issues
-hired a new president in the board
-bernie stepped down as chairman of the board
-they both donate a lot og money to atlanta for an aquarium
-Arthur owns the atlanta falcons
